The Powers of Meditation: From Awareness to the Siddhis
author: High Priest Zevios Metathronos
What meditation gives at every level of your being. The Siddhis grow out of them.
Meditation is how you unlock all the powers of your being. It works on every level of a person at once: it strengthens the body, steadies the emotions, sharpens the intellect, opens the soul and raises it toward the Gods, and every level gains powers of its own.
Awareness comes first at every level. A part of yourself that you are not aware of cannot be empowered: the awareness meditations make each level known and felt, the power meditations empower it, and the physical practices prepare the body that carries both (Meditation Information). As awareness grows in all 5 levels, their powers grow with it.
The Five Levels
| Level | Awareness Grows Of | Powers It Gives |
|---|---|---|
| Physical | The breath, the posture, the senses, the weight and the pulse of the body | Breath, stamina, fitness, mobility, restful sleep, vitality, health |
| Emotional | Feelings and desires as they arise and pass | Calm, stability, courage, freedom from fear and guilt, resilience |
| Intellectual | Attention, thought and memory | Focus, concentration, memory, visualization, cognition, clear judgment |
| Soul | The chakras, the aura and the currents of energy | Open chakras, a strong aura, energy work, protection, the psychic senses |
| Ascend | The bond with the Gods and the Higher Self | Communication with the Gods, the Higher Self, becoming like the Gods |
What Meditation Gives at Each Level
Physical Powers: The Body
Awareness of the body comes first: the breath, the weight of the body, the pulse and every sensation, felt as they are. The Anchor Meditation brings awareness back into the body and anchors it there, and the physical practices prepare the body that carries every other meditation.
- Deep, Slow Breathing, the breath grows longer, deeper and quieter, and slows at will. Every breathing practice of the Temple builds on it (Yogic Breathing Basics).
- Breath Retention, the breath is held with ease and calm, as long breathwork and the advanced meditations ask.
- A Steady Seat, the spine stays upright and the body still through a full meditation, for an hour and more at the advanced levels.
- Physical Fitness, strength, stamina, mobility and a healthy bodyweight, built step by step in the three levels of Physical Exercise (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced).
- Open Joints and Flexibility, yoga opens the joints and the places where tightness traps energy (Hatha (Physical) Yoga).
- Relaxation at Will, any part of the body lets go of its tension on command, the first step into trance (Trance).
- Restful Sleep, sleep grows deeper and more regular, and one wakes rested.
- Vitality, the energy buzz after practice: warmth in the hands, tingling along the arms and a current rising along the spine, stronger with every month of practice.
- Endurance in Practice, long breathwork, extended rituals and sessions of an hour or more stop draining the body; physical stamina becomes stamina for the practice.
- Inner Heat, the body raises its own temperature from within as the sushumna expands (Expanding the Sushumna).
- Mastery of the Energy Locks, the Bandhas hold and direct the life force during breathing and chanting (Bandhas).
- Sharpened Senses, sight, hearing, smell, touch and taste grow finer and more exact as each is trained with undivided attention.
- Grounding, a firm sense of the body and of material existence, which holds against dissociation and the pull of distraction.
- Health and Recovery, the body recovers sooner from strain and illness, and the Temple's healing workings strengthen it (Healing).
The Siddhis that grow from this level: Radiant Vitality (31), Control of Vital Energy (30).
Emotional Powers: Feeling and Desire
Awareness of the emotions means watching each feeling and desire as it arises and passes, without being carried away by it and without judging it (The Self Observation Meditation). What is watched can be mastered; what runs unseen rules the one who has it.
- Calm, a quiet, steady inner state that can be found at will, even in the middle of pressure and conflict.
- Emotional Clarity, each feeling is recognized and named as it comes (anger, joy, anxiety), so it can be understood before it acts.
- Emotional Stability, moods stop ruling the day; feelings come and go without taking control of thought and action.
- Mastery of Desire, a desire is seen as it arises, and one chooses whether to follow it.
- Freedom From Fear, fear of the Gods, of punishment and of the unknown loses its hold (Freeing the Mind From Christianity & Islam).
- Freedom From Guilt and Shame, mistakes are faced and corrected without self-punishment. As the nightly review teaches, the purpose is knowledge, not punishment (The Pythagorean Day Meditation).
- Self-Confidence, a sense of one's own worth and strength in place of the inherited sense of weakness and worthlessness.
- Courage, the will to act through fear, strengthened by meditating on the Ethics, such as Bravery (Ethics Section Meditation).
- Resilience, a quick return to balance and to the work after loss, conflict or failure (Overcoming Obstacles).
- Release of Old Bonds, destructive ties, patterns and attachments are cut and healed (Freeing the Soul, Detaching Unwanted People and Entities).
- Empathy, the feelings of others are sensed clearly, the beginning of the knowledge of other minds.
The Siddhis that grow from this level: Freedom from Fear of Death (13), Magnetic Presence (26), Calming or Freezing Chaos (27), Knowledge of Other Minds (10).
Intellectual Powers: The Mind
Awareness of the mind means knowing where attention is at every moment and bringing it back at will. Where the eyes are, the mind is (Dot Meditation): attention, once trained, evolves into awareness, and the mind becomes a sharp and single instrument.
- Focus, undivided attention on one thing for as long as one chooses (Dot Meditation).
- Concentration and Will, one-pointed concentration held on a single image (Flame Meditation).
- A Quiet Mind, the mind empties of distracting thoughts at will, and its concentration strengthens (Void Meditation).
- Memory, vivid, detailed recall of recent and distant events, the key to many later meditations (Recollection Meditation).
- Visualization, stable, vivid inner images that hold as long as they are needed, the foundation of all magickal work (Sight & Visualization Meditation).
- Imagination and Creativity, the same power of inner images, freed to create new ideas, works of art and solutions.
- Cognition, clearer and faster thinking, and easier learning and understanding, as attention and memory grow.
- The Inner Senses, hearing, smell, touch and taste generated from within, the training ground of the psychic senses (Sound, Smell, Touch, Taste).
- New Pathways in the Mind, sound seen as colour, shape and wave opens new pathways in the brain (Sound Meditation).
- Clear Judgment, Fronesis, the higher divine reason, formed by meditating on the Ethics (Ethics Section Meditation).
- Understanding of Context, the principle behind a text, a law or a situation is grasped, not only its letter (Ethics Meditation: Focusing On Context).
- Self-Knowledge, one's own type, strengths and patterns are known, and the path is set by them (Finding Your Type).
- Control of States of Mind, moving at will between waking, relaxed and trance states (Brainwaves, Trance).
- Self-Hypnosis, influence over one's own subconscious, a foundation of magickal work (Hypnosis).

Soul Powers: Energy and the Psychic Senses
Awareness of the soul means feeling the chakras, the aura and the currents of energy as clearly as one feels the hands. Only a chakra that is felt, understood and fully aware can be opened and empowered to the full (Chakra Focus Meditation, Empowering the Aligned Chakras).
- Awareness of the Chakras, each of the 7 main chakras and the secondary chakras felt as an active, living centre (Chakra Focus, Hip, Shoulder and Temple Chakras).
- Open, Aligned and Empowered Chakras, (Opening the Chakras, Aligning the Chakras, Empowering the Aligned Chakras).
- A Strong Aura, the energy field of the soul perceived, expanded and commanded (Aura Awareness & Empowerment).
- Raising and Directing Energy, (Raising Energies, Directing Energy, Circulating Energy).

- Influence, the environment shaped through will and focus alone (Power, Specific Meditations).
The Siddhis that grow from this level: Mastery of the Elements and Energy Work (29), Dispersing Harmful Energies (28), the Dream & Sleep Siddhis (14 to 17), Awareness Beyond the Body (22), Subtle-Body Movement (23), Distant Perception (24).
Ascending Powers: The Gods and the Spirit
Awareness here is of the Gods and of the Higher Self. Every meditation before it builds, within the soul, a stable platform that can receive the Gods and understand them (Achieving Higher Awareness of Self & Internal World). The Spirit is the culmination of all of your powers, and meditation brings it down and integrates it into who you are today (Meditation Information).
- Communication With the Gods, through their sigils and Names (God Sigil Meditation).
- The Bond With Zeus, (Meditation on Zeus).
- Divine Reason, a deified mode of thought that makes the Law of the Gods intelligible (Ethics Meditation: Focusing On Context).
- The Higher Self, the Spirit, the Ultimate You, materialized and integrated into who you are today.

The Siddhis that grow from this level: Prapti (5), Liberation (32), and the powers beyond public mention (33).
The Siddhis
Siddhis are powers that come from mastering the mind, attention, and inner states so deeply that reality is experienced differently and seems to respond differently, or that reality itself warps. This is the essence of magick, meditation, and spirituality. The Gods are teachers of these abilities, and these powers are only an indicative list. Zevism does not put any limits on the development of one’s powers.
The Siddhis are the by-product of this growth. Each one is the furthest reach of a power that began as awareness at one of the 5 levels, and it appears as those levels are developed.
General Category Siddhis
- Anima, the experience of becoming extremely small or subtle. Your consciousness can perceive the creation itself.
- Mahima, the experience of vast expansion or boundlessness. Internal power dynamics affecting your self-perception.
- Laghima, the sensation of lightness or weightlessness. From this power, other abilities like levitation and telekinesis can be built.
- Garima, the sensation of great heaviness or density. Power over gravitational forces.
- Prapti, intuitive access to distant people, places, or knowledge. The Kundalini, and the highest levels of advancement, produce what we refer to as “all-knowing” capacities.
- Prakamya, fulfillment of intention, things aligning easily. A mystical alignment of all things merely due to thought and will, which many call “luck.”
- Ishitva, mastery over inner and outer states of any and all sorts.
- Vashitva, influence over others or situations, which can scale to exceptional extents.
Mental & Cognitive Siddhis
- Mastery of Thought, control over one’s own mental activity. One can choose what they think, how they think it, and when. This power alone is a major power that can help one navigate existence. Through this power, other powers can be built.
- Knowledge of Other Minds, awareness of others’ thoughts or emotions, all the way to mind reading, whether someone is close or at a distance.
- Power of Intention, thoughts strongly shaping outcomes. The mere power of thought, as the mind and soul grow, can manipulate the fabric of mental, emotional, and general reality. At the highest levels, the Initiate must be very careful about what they say or even think. This is why mental control is paramount to be mastered early.
- Perfect Memory, exceptional recall. The power of memory can be extensive, without errors or with minimal errors. This goes all the way up to past-life recollection. To reach these levels, one must be in a most advanced state.
- Freedom from Fear of Death, psychological release from death anxiety. The Initiate is freed from the shackles of death that torment everyone else, due both to experience of other domains and to mastery of the mental and emotional domains.
Dream & Sleep Siddhis
- Lucid Dreaming, awareness within dreams. One can use this as they see fit, creating worlds of their own.
- Dream Influence, affecting dream imagery of oneself or others.
- Awareness in Deep Sleep, consciousness without dreaming. Sleep can stop being irrelevant or animalistic, and the essence of sleep can change for the Initiate into a very constructive place of work.
- Inner-World Travel, vivid inner or imaginal experiences. In combination with the above, sleep is transformed, and many powers can arise as a result of sleep, such as transference of the soul to influence outcomes in other places.
Time & Perception Siddhis
- Time Compression, time seeming to pass very quickly. One can better control how they perceive “time.” At extreme levels, hours can become seconds, and minutes can become hours.
- Time Expansion, time seeming to slow down. Same as above.
- Knowledge of Past, Present, and Future Patterns, intuitive foresight that reveals how patterns and events will play out, with very high or even total accuracy.
- Perception of Micro-Moments, awareness of extremely small intervals. Inspection-like abilities from which one can gather major information of use, normally not perceivable by most people.
Out-of-Body & Subtle Experience Siddhis
- Awareness Beyond the Body, a sense of separation from the physical form. The Initiate will feel their soul and understand over time that it is separate from the material body.
- Subtle-Body Movement, astral or imaginal travel experiences, also known as astral projection.
- Distant Perception, seeing or sensing remote locations without being physically present there at all, at will or, in earlier stages, involuntarily.
Influence & Presence Siddhis
- Power of Speech, words carrying unusual persuasive force. One’s speech attains magickal power.
- Magnetic Presence, strong personal charisma. One’s presence can increase in charisma and in many forms of talent.
- Calming or Freezing Chaos, stabilizing intense situations. One’s calmness of energy influences others energetically.
- Dispersing Harmful Energies, removing disruptive influences, whether astral entities, emotional states, or any form of negativity.
Energetic & Elemental Siddhis
- Mastery of the Elements and Energy Work, control of bodily and energetic balance. These contain hundreds of applications, such as influencing reality, other people, flows of events, fate, luck, fortune, and more.
- Control of Vital Energy, breath and energy regulation. In extreme cases, one can gain increased survivability and faster recuperation from ailments or wounds, spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and materially.
- Radiant Vitality, strong presence, health, or luminosity. Health can improve dramatically, diseases can disappear, and at extreme levels, these effects only scale upward.
The Highest Siddhi
- Liberation (Moksha / Kaivalya), freedom. A mysterious term that, as can be understood from the above, relates to all the powers listed and represents the highest level of existence attainable through mastery of meditation.
“Mystical” & Classified Siddhis
- Transcedental Powers Beyond Ability for Public Mention, due to their occult and highly secretive nature, only certain things can be said of these powers. These include communication with the Gods, necromancy, communication with departed souls, and time, energy, and reality-altering powers of ever-higher extent, with pinnacle abilities even including choosing the time of one’s death or even material immortality. Certain Initiates, such as Pythagoras or Apollonius, were renowned for bilocation, raising the dead, or even teleportation.
