Awareness of Touch Meditation
This meditation trains the mind to generate and hold physical sensation with precision, transforming simple memory into a tangible, internal experience. By strengthening this faculty for vivid, internal touch, you fine-tune your consciousness to perceive subtle physical information. This heightened inner sensing is the foundational skill that develops into clairsentience, the ability to feel energies and sensations beyond the physical body.
Level 1: The Sensation
- Sit comfortably. Close your eyes.
- Use your opposite hand to apply firm, steady pressure to your palm or the back of your hand.
- Focus your entire awareness on the exact point of contact.
- For two minutes, feel the raw sensation of pressure without judgment. Notice its boundaries, its intensity, its texture, and any warmth or coolness. Do not let your mind wander. Remain unwaveringly with the feeling.
Level 2: The Recollection
- Release the pressure and rest your hands. Close your eyes.
- Using only your recall and imagination, recreate the sensation of pressure in the exact same spot on your hand.
- Your task is to make the feeling as real and vivid as possible, as if the pressure were still being applied.
- Hold this internally generated sensation with unwavering attention. If the feeling fades, concentrate and rebuild it until it is stable and convincing.
How to know you have mastered this meditation: When you can maintain the sensationfor 1 or 2 minutes, like it is really there where it is not, you know you have mastered this meditation.
