Privacy Policy
Personal Data Across Official Temple Platforms
0.1 Temple of Zeus Foundation respects privacy as a matter of dignity, freedom of conscience, and responsible administration. This Policy explains how the Foundation handles personal data across the websites, digital services, and official online platforms to which this Policy is linked.
0.2 The Policy is intended to provide clear information to users in different jurisdictions. A right, duty, exception, or legal basis described below applies to the extent that the relevant law applies to the particular person, processing activity, and service.
1. At a glance
- We seek to collect only personal data reasonably needed for a stated purpose.
- We do not treat a person’s mere visit to or reading of Temple material as formal evidence of membership or religious affiliation.
- We do not knowingly sell personal data for monetary consideration or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- We use service providers only for defined operational purposes and require appropriate protections where the law requires them.
- We accept requests to access, correct, delete, restrict, or otherwise exercise privacy rights, subject to identity verification and lawful exceptions.
- We use additional care where information may reveal religious belief, participation, or another sensitive matter.
2. Scope
2.1 This Policy applies to personal data processed by Temple of Zeus Foundation through any website, page, application, search function, communication channel, official account, or online community that the Foundation operates or controls and that displays or links to this Policy. These services are referred to together as the “Services.”
2.2 A feature-specific notice may supplement this Policy. The more specific notice governs that feature to the extent of an actual difference. This Policy does not govern a service that the Foundation does not operate or control, even if the Service links to, embeds, or is technically connected with it. The privacy rules of the independent service apply when a user leaves or separately engages with that service.
3. Who is responsible for personal data
3.1 Temple of Zeus Foundation is the controller of personal data covered by this Policy unless a feature-specific notice states otherwise. The Foundation is a private interest foundation legally constituted under the laws of the Republic of Panama.
3.2 Privacy requests may be submitted through the administrative contact stated in the current Legal Notice linked from the official website footer. This cross-reference keeps the Foundation’s current contact method in one official location.
4. Personal data we may collect
4.1 The data collected depends on the Service used and the choices a person makes. The Foundation may process the following categories.
4.2 Information provided directly
- Contact information, such as a name or chosen name, email address, and any other contact detail a person elects to provide.
- Account and profile information, such as a username, authentication record, profile settings, language, and communication preferences.
- Communications, including inquiries, requests, correspondence, feedback, reports, and supporting material voluntarily submitted to the Foundation.
- Participation information, including information a person chooses to provide in connection with religious or community participation, an institutional membership application, admission review, rank or role administration, education, events, community administration, acknowledgements, or a request for pastoral or administrative assistance.
- User content, such as posts, comments, uploads, messages, moderation reports, and other material submitted through an interactive feature.
- Search and assistant inputs, including terms entered into keyword search, AI-assisted search, translation, or similar tools.
4.3 Information collected through use of the Services
- Technical and network information, such as Internet Protocol address, device type, browser, operating system, language, time zone, approximate location inferred from an Internet Protocol address, and technical identifiers.
- Usage information, such as pages requested, timestamps, referring page, links selected, search interactions, session events, and error or performance information.
- Security information, such as authentication events, attempted misuse, rate-limit events, network and server logs, and information needed to investigate or prevent abuse.
- Preference information, such as theme, color, text size, line height, page width, language, accessibility choices, and consent settings.
4.4 Information received from another source
4.4.1 When a person interacts with an official Temple presence on another platform, the Foundation may receive the profile name, public content, interaction, message, or other information that the person or the platform makes available under the person’s settings. The Foundation may also receive limited information from operational providers, such as delivery, security, moderation, or service-status records.
4.4.2 The Foundation does not obtain personal data from data brokers for behavioral advertising.
5. Why we process personal data
5.1 The Foundation may process personal data for the following purposes.
5.2 Providing requested Services
5.2.1 We use data to deliver pages and content; operate search, translation, accessibility, account, and community features; authenticate users; process a request; record preferences; and provide a function that a person chooses to use.
5.3 Religious and community administration
5.3.1 We may use data to administer voluntary religious or community participation, institutional membership applications and records, admission and role review, religious education, events, pastoral or administrative communications, and the orderly operation of an official Temple community. We limit such processing to what is relevant to the relationship and the person’s choices.
5.4 Communication
5.4.1 We use contact information to answer inquiries, send requested information, provide service or policy notices, and, where permitted, send optional updates. A person may opt out of non-essential promotional communication at any time. We may still send communications necessary to administer a requested Service, protect security, or meet a legal duty.
5.5 Safety, integrity, and moderation
5.5.1 We use data to protect users, the Services, and the Foundation; enforce reasonable rules; prevent spam, fraud, intrusion, impersonation, harassment, or unlawful conduct; investigate reports; preserve evidence when necessary; and maintain service reliability.
5.6 Improvement and measurement
5.6.1 We may use limited usage and performance information to understand whether pages and features function, improve accessibility and navigation, diagnose errors, measure aggregate readership, and plan capacity. Where consent is required for a measurement technology, we seek that consent before using it.
5.7 Legal compliance and protection of rights
5.7.1 We may process data to comply with applicable law, respond to a valid legal process, keep required records, obtain professional advice, establish or defend legal claims, protect the rights and safety of persons, and document compliance.
6. Legal bases
6.1 Where a law requires a legal basis for processing, the Foundation relies on one or more of the following, according to the circumstances:
- Consent, when a person has made a specific and informed choice. Consent may be withdrawn prospectively at any time.
- Performance of a contract or steps requested before entering one, when processing is necessary to provide an agreed Service.
- Legitimate interests, including operating and securing the Services, responding to users, maintaining records, moderating community features, preventing misuse, improving accessibility, and protecting legal rights, provided those interests are not overridden by the person’s rights and freedoms.
- Compliance with a legal obligation applicable to the Foundation.
- Protection of vital interests in a genuine emergency where the law permits that basis.
- A legal basis available to a religious foundation or not-for-profit religious body for legitimate activities conducted with appropriate safeguards, where the statutory conditions are met.
6.2 The Foundation does not rely on a legal basis more broadly than the facts and the applicable law permit. Where consent is the required basis, declining or withdrawing consent does not affect access to unrelated functions that do not need the data.
7. Religious belief and other sensitive information
7.1 Information about religious belief, affiliation, participation, requests for religious assistance, or the content of certain communications may be sensitive under applicable law. Other user content may reveal health, political opinion, origin, sexuality, or another protected characteristic even when the Foundation did not request it.
7.2 The Foundation does not treat a visit, page view, or ordinary doctrinal search as formal proof that a person adheres to Zevism or belongs to the Temple. It does not intentionally create advertising profiles from religious interest.
7.3 Where sensitive data is needed for a legitimate religious activity, the Foundation processes it with heightened care and only under explicit consent or another basis that applicable law makes available. Processing connected with members, former members, or persons in regular contact with the Temple is confined to legitimate activities and appropriate safeguards. Such data is not disclosed outside the relevant protected context without consent unless a lawful exception applies.
7.4 Users should not place unnecessary personal, confidential, health, financial, or identifying information in a public post, search query, or automated assistant input.
8. Cookies, local preferences, and similar technologies
8.1 The Services may use cookies, browser storage, scripts, pixels, or comparable technologies for the following limited categories:
- Strictly necessary functions, including security, load management, session continuity, and a choice requested by the user.
- Preference functions, including theme, color, language, text size, line height, page width, and accessibility choices.
- Measurement and performance, including limited information about page use, errors, and service reliability.
- Embedded or connected functions initiated by a user, which may be provided by an independent service under its own privacy rules.
8.2 Where applicable law requires consent for a technology that is not strictly necessary, the Foundation will request consent before activation and provide a means to withdraw it. Browser settings may block or delete certain technologies, although doing so may reset preferences or impair a requested feature.
8.3 The Foundation will recognize a legally valid browser-based opt-out preference signal, including a qualifying global privacy control, where the signal applies to a processing activity covered by applicable law.
9. When personal data may be disclosed
9.1 The Foundation may disclose personal data only as reasonably necessary for the following categories of recipient and purpose:
- Operational providers that host, secure, maintain, measure, communicate, search, translate, moderate, authenticate, store, or otherwise support the Services under appropriate instructions or contractual protections.
- Professional advisers, auditors, and insurers where access is reasonably necessary and subject to duties of confidence or equivalent safeguards.
- Public authorities, courts, or other recipients when disclosure is required by applicable law or valid legal process.
- Persons affected by fraud, abuse, a security incident, or an imminent safety risk, but only to the extent reasonably necessary and lawful.
- A recipient designated by the user or another person with the user’s valid authorization.
- A lawful institutional successor or custodian if responsibility for a Service is transferred in accordance with law, subject to continued protection of the data and notice where required.
9.2 Service providers are permitted to process data only for the services and purposes authorized, except where law gives them an independent duty or status. The Foundation does not authorize them to use sensitive religious information for their own advertising.
10. Public and community content
10.1 Information submitted to a public profile, post, comment, forum, directory, livestream, or other public feature may be visible, searchable, quoted, copied, or redistributed by others. A user should publish only information the user is prepared to make public.
10.2 The Foundation may remove or de-identify content under its rules and applicable law, but it cannot guarantee deletion from independent copies, search caches, quotations, screenshots, or services it does not control. A deletion request will nevertheless be assessed and acted upon to the extent reasonably possible and legally required.
10.3 Private messages and restricted community areas should not be assumed to be privileged or absolutely confidential. Authorized moderation, security, or technical personnel may access them when reasonably necessary to operate the feature, investigate a report, protect safety, or comply with law.
11. Sale, sharing, and advertising
11.1 As a matter of current policy, the Foundation does not knowingly sell personal data for monetary consideration and does not use personal data for cross-context behavioral advertising.
11.2 Some laws define “sale,” “sharing,” “targeted advertising,” or comparable terms more broadly than ordinary usage. If a Service activity falls within such a definition, the Foundation will provide the notice, opt-out method, consent mechanism, or other protection required for that activity. The Foundation does not discriminate against a person for exercising an applicable privacy right.
12. International processing and transfers
12.1 The Services are accessible internationally, and the Foundation and its operational providers may process data in countries other than the country in which a user is located. Privacy laws and government-access rules may differ between countries.
12.2 Where applicable law restricts an international transfer, the Foundation will rely on a lawful transfer mechanism, an adequacy determination, appropriate contractual safeguards, or a permitted exception, according to the transfer concerned. Information about an applicable safeguard may be requested through the contact method stated in the Legal Notice, subject to lawful redactions and the rights of others.
13. Retention and deletion
13.1 The Foundation keeps personal data only for the shortest period reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, together with any period required to meet a legal obligation or protect a legitimate legal interest.
13.2 Retention is determined by criteria that include whether an account or requested Service remains active; whether an inquiry or moderation matter is unresolved; the sensitivity and volume of the data; security needs; applicable recordkeeping and limitation periods; the need to establish or defend a claim; and the ordinary cycle for secure backups.
13.3 When data is no longer needed, the Foundation deletes it, anonymizes it, or restricts it so that it is no longer used for ordinary purposes. Data preserved for a legal hold, security event, recordkeeping duty, or defense of claims is isolated to the extent reasonably practicable and retained only for the relevant period. Residual copies may remain in protected backups until overwritten in the ordinary cycle.
14. Security
14.1 The Foundation uses administrative, organizational, and technical safeguards reasonably proportionate to the nature of the data and the risk. These may include access controls, authentication, least-privilege practices, encryption where appropriate, logging, backups, provider review, moderation controls, and procedures for responding to incidents.
14.2 No Internet transmission, platform, or storage system can be guaranteed absolutely secure. Users are responsible for protecting their credentials, using appropriate device security, and notifying the Foundation if they reasonably suspect unauthorized access to an official Temple account or communication.
14.3 If a personal-data breach occurs, the Foundation will investigate, mitigate, document, and notify affected persons or authorities when and within the time required by applicable law.
15. Privacy rights and choices
15.1 Depending on the law that applies, a person may have the right to:
- Know whether and why personal data is processed and receive required information about its sources, uses, and recipients.
- Access personal data and obtain a copy.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
- Request deletion of personal data.
- Restrict or object to certain processing.
- Withdraw consent prospectively where processing is based on consent.
- Receive eligible data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format and, where technically feasible, transmit it to another controller.
- Opt out of direct marketing, sale or sharing, targeted advertising, or qualifying profiling.
- Limit certain uses or disclosures of sensitive personal data.
- Obtain information about, object to, or seek human review of a qualifying automated decision.
- Use an authorized agent where the applicable law permits one.
- Appeal a refusal where the applicable law provides an appeal.
- Receive equal service and not be unlawfully discriminated against for exercising a privacy right.
- Lodge a complaint with the competent data-protection or consumer-privacy authority.
15.2 A person may submit a request through the administrative contact identified in the Legal Notice. The request should describe the right, the Service involved, the relevant account or contact information, and any detail reasonably needed to locate the data. An appeal, where available, may be requested through the same method by identifying the earlier decision.
15.3 The Foundation may take proportionate steps to verify identity and authority. It will not request more verification data than reasonably necessary. A request is normally free, although a reasonable fee or refusal may be permitted for a manifestly unfounded, excessive, technically impossible, or repetitive request where applicable law allows it.
15.4 The Foundation will respond within the period required by applicable law and will explain any lawful extension or refusal. Rights are not absolute. For example, deletion may be limited where data must be retained for legal compliance, security, freedom of expression or information, the rights of another person, or the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims.
15.5 Direct marketing objection
15.5.1 A person may object to direct marketing at any time. Once the objection is received, the Foundation will stop using that person’s personal data for direct marketing, subject only to the limited records needed to honor the choice.
16. Regional information
16.1 Panama
16.1.1 Where Panamanian data-protection law applies, the Foundation processes personal data in accordance with the principles and rights established by Law No. 81 of 26 March 2019, its implementing rules, and other applicable law. Requests for access, rectification, cancellation or deletion, opposition, and portability are handled subject to the conditions and exceptions of that framework.
16.2 European Economic Area and United Kingdom
16.2.1 Where the European Union General Data Protection Regulation, United Kingdom data-protection law, or related national law applies, the Foundation relies on the legal bases described in Section 6, applies the additional protections for sensitive data described in Section 7, and honors the applicable rights described in Section 15. A person may complain to the competent supervisory authority where the person lives or works or where an alleged infringement occurred.
16.2.2 The right to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and the right to object to direct marketing, are specifically brought to the user’s attention in Section 15. Where required, international transfers are addressed through the measures described in Section 12.
16.3 United States
16.3.1 United States privacy rights vary by state and often apply only when statutory thresholds or other conditions are met. Where an applicable state law grants them, residents may request access or knowledge, correction, deletion, a portable copy, opt-out of sale or sharing, opt-out of targeted advertising or qualifying profiling, limitation of sensitive-data use, non-discrimination, and an appeal.
16.3.2 The Foundation will honor a valid opt-out preference signal where required. It may ask an authorized agent for proof of authority and may verify a request directly with the person concerned. Nothing in this Policy requires a person to waive a non-waivable right.
17. Children and younger users
17.1 The Services are intended for a general audience and are not directed to children under 13. The Foundation does not knowingly collect personal data online from a child in violation of applicable law.
17.2 A person under the age of legal majority should use interactive features only with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian where local law requires it. Where consent of a parent or guardian is required for a younger person, the Foundation will seek verifiable authorization before collecting personal data or will decline the relevant feature.
17.3 If the Foundation learns that personal data was collected from a child contrary to applicable law, it will take reasonable steps to delete the data or obtain the required authorization. A parent or guardian may use the request method stated in Section 15.
18. Automated tools and AI-assisted search
18.1 The Services may use automated systems to locate, rank, translate, summarize, or generate an answer from Temple material. A query and limited technical context may be processed by operational providers solely to deliver and secure that function.
18.2 Users should not include unnecessary personal or confidential information in an automated query. Automated output may be incomplete, inaccurate, or generated from material that has been superseded. It is not an official doctrinal statement unless the Temple expressly adopts it as such on the official website.
18.3 The Foundation does not use an automated tool covered by this Policy to make a decision based solely on automated processing that produces legal or similarly significant effects concerning a person, unless a future feature provides the notice, legal basis, and safeguards required by applicable law.
19. Changes to this Policy
19.1 The Foundation may revise this Policy to reflect changes in law, the Services, security needs, or data practices. The current version will display its effective date. Material changes will be given additional notice or renewed consent where applicable law requires it.
19.2 Unless law requires otherwise, a revision applies prospectively from its effective date. Archived versions may be retained for accountability and legal recordkeeping.
20. Contact
20.1 Questions and privacy requests should be directed through the administrative contact published in the current Legal Notice on the official website. The Foundation may provide a feature-specific request form or additional regional contact where required by applicable law.
