The base/root chakra, known in Sanskrit as the "Muladhara," controls the bowels, the bladder, lower colon, legs, and adrenal glands. This chakra is red in color. Its element is earth, and its metal is lead. It is ruled by the planet Saturn. This chakra gives stability and grounding, and rules over the survival and basic instincts. The base chakra gives us the will to survive, and the sense of security. Anger and rage emanate from this chakra, thus the phrase "seeing red." The first three chakras are the most influential in workings of magick, making things projected by the upper female chakras to manifest in reality.
