Lower Orders of Daemons

The Lesser Daemons

Many practitioners have seen and even interacted with lesser Daemons. These are the Daemons with the glowing red eyes, sometimes wings, and some even have fur. Up close, many of these Daemons have the most beautiful eyes, like glowing rubies, deep and rich in color. They are spiritual beings who serve Father Zeus and the higher Gods. Some of the small "Messenger Daemons" are souls created by the Gods themselves.

Pazuzu: Protector of Children

Pazuzu

The lesser Daemons are protectors. A prime example is the Sumerian Daemon, Pazuzu, who is a protector of children and also women in childbirth.

Pazuzu received a false reputation from the 1973 movie "The Exorcist," written by Catholic William Peter Blatty. This was the Christian retaliation against the 1968 movie "Rosemary's Baby" which depicted Father Zeus in a somewhat positive perspective. "The Exorcist" frightened many away from the Gods and pushed the belief in "Demonic possession." Fear is used as a powerful tool to keep people spiritually enslaved and ignorant.

Unlike the Christian "God" and his entities, Father Zeus and his Daemons do not use coercion, nor do they push themselves upon anyone. Zeus respects free will, and people come to him willingly, not through fear or the use of force.

Several experienced Zevists have invoked Daemons and let them speak through them; no harm has ever come to anyone. Enemy spirits, on the other hand, are notorious for possession and coercion, and of course, like everything else, it is blamed on Zeus.

Bes: Guardian and Healer

Bes

Bes is another example of a lesser Daemon. Daemons of this class are the ones with the beautiful ruby-like eyes. These Daemons are protectors, patrons of music, dancing, healing, and are guardians. In Ancient Egypt, dwarves (these lesser Daemons) were revered and highly respected. These Daemons are short; they are only two to three feet in height.

The lesser Daemons occupy the lower ranks of the divine hierarchy. Their power is considerable by human standards but modest compared to the Grand Gods. They serve specific functions: protection of sacred spaces, delivery of messages between realms, guardianship of initiates during their early development, and assistance with practical magick.
