Freedom
One of the basic virtues an individual has to understand is freedom.
We are where we are because of freedom.
And we can go where we could go because of it. But we can also not go.
One is free to make choices in their life about themselves and, to an extent, about others.
Freedom is fundamental in the world of duality and physical existence.
One is free to listen, or not to listen. To apply knowledge, or not to apply it.
All virtues begin with the ability to understand the choice that stems from freedom.
Ἡ ἐλευθερία μία τῶν πρώτων ἀρετῶν ἐστίν, ἣν χρὴ ἕκαστον ἄνθρωπον συνιέναι.
Διὰ τὴν ἐλευθερίαν ἐνταῦθα ἐσμέν, ὅπου νῦν ἐσμέν.
Καὶ ὅποι ἂν δυναίμεθα ἰέναι, δι᾽ αὐτὴν ἰέναι δυνάμεθα· ἔξεστι δὲ ἡμῖν καὶ μὴ ἰέναι.
Ἐλεύθερός ἐστιν ἕκαστος περὶ ἑαυτοῦ ἐν τῷ βίῳ αἱρεῖσθαι, καί, μέχρι τινός, περὶ ἄλλων.

Ō Satya, sy prōtos eleutheros ēstha;
didaxon hēmas peri tou tēs eleutherias mystēriou.
The prayer calls Satya the first to be free and asks to be taught the mystery of freedom. The ethic connects freedom with the capacity to choose whether to act, listen, and apply knowledge.
