DIONYSUS

Ecstasy, Rebirth, Wine. Dionysus is the twice-born God, lord of ecstatic states, spiritual death and rebirth. His mysteries taught the dissolution of the ego and the liberation of the divine self. He stands among the Twelve Ruling Gods in The Pantheon of the Gods.

The Romans called Him Bacchus, and Liber. In 496 BCE, as Dionysius of Halicarnassus relates, the Aventine offering was made to Ceres, Liber and Libera: the page on Libera, the Free One, tells it.

His Symbols
