Hakini Mudra
All ten fingertips meet. The seal of memory and of the forehead centre, where the two halves of the mind cooperate.

- Meaning
- Seal of Hakini, Deity of the Forehead Centre
- Tradition
- Tantric yoga; Hakini is the deity of the Ajna (forehead) chakra
- Hands
- Both hands, fingertips joined
- Placement
- In front of the chest or solar plexus. Sit facing west, without crossing the feet.
- Associations
- Sixth (forehead) chakra; brain; lungs. Variant (Kim da Silva): shift the contact by one finger to activate large-intestine energy.
- Level
- Intermediary
Formation
- Hold the hands apart before the body, palms facing each other.
- Join each fingertip with its counterpart: thumb to thumb, index to index, middle to middle, ring to ring, little to little.
- Keep the palms open so the hands form a dome.
Example Meditation
Hold the joined fingertips before the chest and lift the eyes slightly upward. Breathe deeply and, as an example, bring to mind something to be recalled or understood. The joined fingertips link the two halves of the brain; the seal supports memory, concentration and the work of the forehead centre.
Effects
PhysicalΣῶμα
- Breathing. It improves and deepens the breath, which feeds the brain. Kim da Silva relates it to lung energy.
EmotionalΘυμός
- Composure. Used when the thread is lost: the seal restores calm attention in place of fluster.
IntellectualΝοῦς
- Memory and recall. Its principal use: remembering what is read, recovering a lost thought, finding good ideas, concentration.
- Hemispheric cooperation. Promotes the cooperation of the right and left brain hemispheres; used in memory training.
SoulΨυχή
- The forehead centre. Hakini presides over the sixth centre, the seat of inner perception.
AscentἈνάβασις
- The eye of the Nous. The ten joined fingertips gather the whole person at the brow. Zevism treats the forehead as the gate where intellect meets the divine Nous.
