Pushpaputa Mudra
Two open bowls rest on the thighs. Only open hands can receive and only open hands can give.

- Meaning
- Seal of a Handful of Flowers
- Tradition
- Yoga and devotional practice
- Hands
- Both hands, same form, separate
- Placement
- On the thighs, one bowl on each.
- Associations
- Heart (in the visualization of golden rays).
- Level
- Intermediary
Formation
- Place the hands like empty bowls on the thighs, palms up.
- Let the fingers rest next to each other in a relaxed way.
- Lay each thumb against the outer edge of its index finger.
Example Meditation
Rest the open hands like bowls on the thighs. Breathe gently and, as an example, offer the meditation itself as a flower placed in the hands. The open bowls release tension from the hands and make the mind receptive, ready to receive and to give.
Effects
PhysicalΣῶμα
- Release of the hands. The hands rest open without grip, which relaxes the forearms completely.
EmotionalΘυμός
- Openness. Given against closing oneself off through apathy or fear.
IntellectualΝοῦς
- Receptive attention. Thought is turned toward what is being given rather than toward what is wanted.
SoulΨυχή
- Receiving and giving. "Only with open hands can we enrich the world": the seal receives what cosmic consciousness gives and radiates it through the heart.
AscentἈνάβασις
- The offering of flowers. The handful of flowers is the oldest offering. Zevism holds the open hands up to the Gods as the vessel of that gift.

Cautions and Variants
Variants. Some modern sources join the hands at the chest with the little fingers touching; here they are two separate bowls on the thighs.
