Formation

  1. Place the little finger at the base of the thumb.
  2. Place the ring finger on the upper joint of the thumb.
  3. Place the middle finger on the pad of the thumb.
  4. Extend the index finger. Form the same seal with the other hand.

Example Meditation

Sit upright and hold the hands in the seal, a little away from the body. Breathe slowly and deeply into the lungs. The seal eases the breath and supports the inner reserves.

Effects

PhysicalΣῶμα

  • Respiration. For respiratory problems and asthma attacks.

EmotionalΘυμός

  • Loneliness and sadness. Breathing difficulties are related to inner loneliness, isolation and sadness; shallow breath weakens the inner reserve.

IntellectualΝοῦς

  • Exercise of the breath. Regular breathing and physical exercise are recommended alongside it.

SoulΨυχή

  • Inner reserve. Full breath restores the inner reserve of strength.

AscentἈνάβασις

  • Πνεῦμα. Breath and spirit are one word in Greek. A free breath is the condition of a free spirit.
