Sexual Force Management: Level 1

- And For
- Desire that is weak or absent
- Practice
- A week of honest observation, then the changes
- Outcome
- Your sexual force serves you
Sex and the release of sexual energy are good. Released with real desire and real pleasure, the sexual force removes blockages of the Kundalini, clears the channels and renews the whole being. What weakens is waste: release without desire, without pleasure, without reason. These practices guard the force against waste, and keep it for what it is meant to do.
Huangdi Neijing, Suwen 1 (上古天真論)
以酒為漿,以妄為常,醉以入房,以欲竭其精,以耗散其真,不知持滿,不時御神,務快其心,逆於生樂,起居無節,故半百而衰也。
They take wine for their drink and recklessness for their rule. They enter the bedchamber drunk, exhaust their essence through desire and scatter their true Qi. They don't know how to stay full or when to govern the spirit. They chase what pleases the heart against the joy of life, with no measure in rising or resting. So at 50 they decline.
Before You Begin
This page speaks plainly about sex, porn and addiction. It's written for adults.
Every number on it is indicative. Bodies, ages and lives differ, and each Initiate adapts the practice to their own.
I. The Sexual Force Is Sacred
Aphrodite and Eros are Gods. The force they rule moves through every living being, and its pleasure is one of their gifts.
Released with desire and joy, the sexual force removes blockages of the Kundalini and renews body and soul. Managing it means keeping it for that.
II. The 3 Levels
| Level | What You Train | How Often |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Ending the waste: no release without desire and real pleasure; porn and compulsion ended; the imbalance found and set right | Always |
| Level 2 | Holding the force for 5 to 7 days and directing it | Now and then, by choice |
| Level 3 | Holding the force for 2 weeks and retaining its energy | Once a year |
III. What Waste Is, and What It Costs
Waste is release with no desire, no pleasure and no reason: out of boredom, stress or habit, in front of a screen, again and again. It spends the vital force and gives nothing back.
It drains more than the body. It drains you emotionally, it dulls the mind, it empties the will, and it leaves nothing behind to show for it.
The ancients knew the cost. Pythagoras, asked when a man should lie with a woman, answered:
Pythagoras, in Diogenes Laertius, Lives of the Philosophers 8.9
Keep to the winter for sexual pleasures, in summer abstain; they are less harmful in autumn and spring, but they are always harmful and not conducive to health. Asked once when a man should consort with a woman, he replied, When you want to lose what strength you have. (Tr. R. D. Hicks)
Aristotle explained why. The seed is made from the body's nourishment, at its last and finest stage, and so it carries great power:
Aristotle, Generation of Animals I.19, 726b
It is plain that the seed is the residue of the nourishment in the blood, the last of it, which is carried out to the parts. And for this reason it has great power: for the loss of pure and healthy blood, too, exhausts.
So the sexual force is a reserve, built from what you eat, breathe and rest. Spent on nothing, it's siphoned off the same way a poor diet siphons off your strength, and the body has to rebuild it from the reserves that should go to everything else.
| Food | The Sexual Force |
|---|---|
| A good meal, eaten hungry and enjoyed | Release with real desire and real pleasure |
| Junk food eaten out of boredom | Release out of boredom, stress or habit |
| Eating long past fullness | Compulsion: release that brings no pleasure |
| Empty calories that leave you hungrier | Porn: stimulation that leaves you emptier |
| A planned fast that sharpens you | Retention at Levels 2 and 3 |
| Starving yourself | Suppression held too long, against the body |
Chinese medicine says the same in its own terms. The Kidneys store the essence (Jing), and the Suwen says they receive the essence of all 5 Zang and 6 Fu organs and store it, so that only when the organs are full can it be released. Essence wasted on desire leaves the Kidneys deficient, and with them the organs that draw on them. The marks of Kidney essence deficiency are tiredness, a weak lower back and knees, a poor memory, a failing will, early grey hair and, in the end, failing desire.
The Qigong masters put it as a path: essence is refined into Qi, and Qi into spirit (Jing, Qi, Shen). Essence wasted is the first step of that path never taken.
IV. Real Pleasure and Addiction
The line is clear: when sex or release no longer brings real pleasure, and you're bound to it anyway, it has become an addiction.
| Sign | Real Pleasure | Addiction |
|---|---|---|
| How it begins | Desire rises by itself, for a person or for pleasure itself. | An urge fires on a cue: boredom, stress, loneliness, a screen, the hour of habit. |
| During | You're present, and it feels good. | You're on autopilot, chasing something that doesn't arrive. |
| After | Warmth, ease, a settled body and mind. | Emptiness, flatness, tiredness, often shame. |
| Over time | It stays fresh. | It takes more, more often, or more extreme material to feel anything. |
| Choice | You choose it, and you can leave it. | You're bound to it. You promise to stop and don't. |
| Your life | It adds to your life. | It crowds out sleep, work, friends, love and practice. |
The World Health Organization names it compulsive sexual behaviour disorder (ICD-11, 6C72): a persistent failure to control intense, repeated sexual urges, so that sex becomes the centre of life, efforts to cut back keep failing, and it goes on despite the harm, or while giving little or no satisfaction.
Guilt taught by a creed that calls desire a sin is something else. The WHO says it too: distress that comes only from moral disapproval of sex is no sign of the disorder. Desire is natural; the Gods made it.
V. Porn
Porn is the most common waste of the sexual force today, above all among men. It is built to hold attention, and it does.
- It drains without return. The force is spent, and nothing comes back: no touch, no presence, no joy that lasts.
- It trains arousal to a screen. Desire learns to answer to novelty and images, and a real partner begins to feel like less.
- It escalates. What worked last month stops working, and the material grows more extreme to feel the same.
- It dulls real desire. Many men who stop report that desire for a real partner returns, and arousal comes more easily.
- It drains the emotions. Low mood, restlessness, shame and isolation follow it, and the habit grows to soothe what it causes.
- It steals time. Hours that could go to practice, work, friends and love.
- It teaches a false picture. Of women, of men and of sex itself.
Sex addiction does the same with real partners: release after release with no pleasure, no meaning and no end, the vital force poured out and the emotions worn thin.
VI. Find the Imbalance
People waste the force in different ways. Some spend it on porn, some on compulsion. Others have no sexual balance at all, or no desire. Find your pattern first.
| Pattern | Signs | Where to Begin |
|---|---|---|
| Excess | Porn every day or most days; release several times a day; compulsive sex; the signs of addiction above. | Cut the waste first: the practice below. End porn completely. |
| Deficiency | Little or no desire; no sexual life, and no wish for one; the force feels absent. | Rebuild the reserves: sleep, food, movement and rest (Diet & Sleep, Physical Exercise). Look for what drains you elsewhere: stress, exhaustion, a hidden habit. Desire returns when the body is full again. |
| Disorder | Long stretches of nothing, then binges; sex used to escape feelings; desire that comes only with a screen. | Find the rhythm: release when there is real desire, and work on the feelings underneath (Emotional Control). |
VII. What You Gain
- Vital force. More energy through the day, and a body that recovers.
- Steady emotions. Less restlessness, less low mood, more calm.
- A clear mind. Better focus and memory, and a stronger will.
- Stronger meditation. The force that isn't wasted rises: the Kundalini work, the energy meditations and the Void all gain from it.
- Renewed desire. Pleasure becomes deeper and real desire comes back.
- Better love. Presence with a partner, and confidence in yourself.
VIII. The Practice
- Observe for 7 days. Change nothing yet. After each release, note honestly: was there real desire? Real pleasure? What came just before it?
- Find your pattern. Excess, deficiency or disorder (the table above).
- End the waste. No release without real desire. End porn completely: remove it from your devices, block it, and keep the phone out of the bedroom.
- Meet the empty urge. When an urge comes with no real desire behind it, stop and take 10 slow breaths. Breathing in, draw the energy up from the base of the spine to the crown; breathing out, let it settle below the navel. Or move: a walk, push-ups, cold water. If the mind keeps pulling, do the Void Meditation.
- Keep what is real. Release with desire and presence, with a partner or alone, is good. Enjoy it fully.
- Refill the reserves. Sleep, food, exercise and rest replace what is spent (Diet & Sleep, Physical Exercise).
| Practice | How Often | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Honest observation | The first 7 days | A minute after each release |
| The breath up the spine | Whenever an empty urge comes | 10 breaths |
| No porn | From the 8th day on | For good |
Typical timeframe: 4 to 8 weeks to break a habit of waste; longer for a deep addiction.
IX. Men, Women and Age
Retention and release matter for both men and women. Both waste the force in the same ways, both gain from managing it, and the practices at every level are the same for both.
For men it weighs more, and more with every decade. The classical texts measure the cost of release in the man's seed, and the Suwen counts a man's life in stages of 8 years:
| Age | The Suwen on a Man's Body |
|---|---|
| 16 | Kidney Qi abundant; the Tian Gui arrives; the essence overflows; he can father children |
| 24 to 32 | Kidney Qi even; sinews and bones strong; the body at its peak |
| 40 | Kidney Qi declines; hair falls, teeth dry |
| 48 | Yang Qi exhausted above; the face darkens, the hair greys |
| 56 | Liver Qi declines; the Tian Gui is exhausted; the essence is little |
| 64 | Teeth and hair are gone |
A woman's life the Suwen counts in stages of 7 years, the Tian Gui arriving at 14 and ending at 49.
Sun Simiao, the great physician of the Tang, gave men a measure of release by age. He also warned against the opposite fault: a man of more than common strength mustn't force himself to hold, for long holding without release breeds abscesses.
Sun Simiao, Beiji Qianjin Yaofang 27, «
At 20, release once in 4 days; at 30, once in 8 days; at 40, once in 16 days; at 50, once in 20 days; at 60, hold the essence and release no more, or if the body is still strong, once a month. Some men have strength beyond others; they too mustn't suppress it, for holding long without release breeds abscesses.
| Age | Sun Simiao's Measure for Men |
|---|---|
| 20 | 1 release every 4 days |
| 30 | 1 release every 8 days |
| 40 | 1 release every 16 days |
| 50 | 1 release every 20 days |
| 60 | Hold the essence and release no more; if the body is still strong and vigorous, 1 release a month |
An ancient measure, given here as a guide. A young man with real desire and a partner needn't count days; a man past 40 does well to space his releases further.
X. Signs You're Ready for Level 2
- No porn for at least a month. And no pull back to it.
- Every release has real desire behind it. The empty urges pass with the breath.
- Your energy has risen. You feel steadier, clearer and stronger than before.
- Your balance is found. If desire was missing, it has begun to return.
The force of Aphrodite is a gift. Spend it on joy.
